One Lighthouse… Weekly Photo Challenge

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/12/20/photo-challenge-one/

005There are thousands of Lighthouses in the world. What makes this one special- it is the most Southern one in Africa, at Cape Agulhas, South Africa.  It is overlooking the junction where two oceans meet:

008This is one of THE destinations for motorbikers in Africa- as Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman will tell you- where Long Way Down ended…  One of my blog  headers is my Aprilia standing here in stormy weather…

I am busy scanning my old film photos, these were still taken with my old Canon A1 in 2004, and was scanned from the prints yesterday.

Gratitude…

I had to lead two funerals in the past two days. That was a bit rough on me! But since yesterday’s funeral of a young dad who killed himself last weekend, it was time for a break. I really need this one!

So since yesterday afternoon my family and I drove 10 hours in our pickup truck (bakkie). We arrived at the Indian Ocean just south of Durban this afternoon at a place called Scottburgh.

And now we as a family will enjoy 8 days at the beach. It does not look like fun in the sun according to the weather forcast. But that is ok! I do have a lot of books to read, I have my wife and all 4 kids with me. We had a nice barbeque of mutton chops and salad tonight. So I am happy… Tomorrow morning we will walk on the beach, even of it is raining. The ocean always makes me happy…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizons

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/10/25/weekly-photo-challenge-horizon/

IMG_0418The horizon of the Indian Ocean at Scottburgh, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. It is getting to that time of year where we really need some saltwater on our skin to feel human again… bad if you live over 500 miles (800 km) from the sea, and really love the ocean…  There is unfortunately no such plans till March next year…

Two Oceans, not just one Sea…

At Cape Agulhas, the Southern most point of Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Oceans meet- not at Cape Point in Cape Town as many would have thought. Even the famous road race- The “Two Oceans”… has a wrong name! Or is at the wrong place!  But what would you expect from a sport of which the Bible says: “Only the unrighteous runs when no-one gives chase… ” (Proverbs 28:1)

So- without further waste of precious words: here is my second contribution to the Weekly Photo Challenge…

Picture 090As sometimes seen on my rotating header- this photo, one of my favorite motorbike shots, even Charlie and Ewan came here- this is where Long Way Down ended…

Picture 092The Lighthouse at Cape Agulhus:

Picture 095And so ends my posts for Winter 2013- for tomorrow it is Spring!!!  Time for Bike rides, and Photography, and even Cycling… Proverbs 28:1 says the unrighteous flees, but, the next verse says the Righteous has the courage of a lion… do you know what the emblem on a Peugeot Bicycle is? Hmm? Just an inside joke between the runners and the cyclists here in our town…
