Share my world week #39- Cee’s Challenge

Share Your World – 2013 Week 39

1. You are given $5,000 and the chance to exchange it for one of two envelopes. One envelope contains $50,000 and one contains $500. Do you make the trade? Why or why not?2. Do you believe in the afterlife?  Reincarnation?

3. If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

4. If you had to spend one weekend alone in a single public building or institution, which building would you choose?

__________________________________________________________________

1. No, I would take the money, and take my wife on a Bucket List holiday (remember a US$ goes far in our country!)  Would it be enough for airplane tickets to go and have a picnic under the Redwood trees in California? I would love that very much! Also- a childhood friend is a pastor in Brentwood, California, I would dearly love to visit him again…

No photos of the Redwoods… yet…

2. Yes I believe in eternal life- I am a Christian pastor, I should… 🙂

3.  Some days it feels like a tragedy with the hero going down in flames, like Icarus.  But just sometimes it is an action movie, and for these moments I live!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I used to be a good shot in the Army, I am a bad hunter… (around here that is the definition of a Vegetarian…) I love being in nature, even with my hunting rifle (a World War II Lee Enfield Mark IV, customised with a Tasco 4X 40 scope) but I do not like to kill…

4. After all I have read, I would like to spend a weekend alone in the Smithsonian Institute… I have never been to the USA (yet…) but in everything I have read, that is the one institution I would love to visit…

No photos of the Smithsonian Institute… yet…

The Path in the Bush- Cee’s Which Way

http://ceenphotography.com/2013/10/30/cees-which-way-challenge-no-12/

I like to share parts of my world in the South African Bushveld with you… Mainly because it can be so totally different from where you call home…

This is one of the photos taken on my walkabout Saturday Morning, in the Bush about 15 km from my home… On these paths you just never know what you are going to see next in the line of wildlife, trees, or birds- we are blessed with the most amazing species of all those all around us…

In Hollywood the tourists drive around, looking for the stars’ homes. We have one too! This is the home of Pumba the Warthog from Lion King… but he was not home…

And this is just some of the scenes that you can find along the way here in my part of the world…  (maybe I am stretching the boundaries of this challenge a little bit here… 🙂  )

Sometimes- No Way… Cee’s Which Way Challenge

My last Which Way showed a lot of dry roads in our area. But there is, once in a while, also another side to our town. Like on Good Friday 2010, when the little stream through our town became an unpassable river…

So Which Way became No Way…  _________________________________________________

Share your world Challenge

http://ceenphotography.com/2013/10/14/share-your-world-2013-week-36/

What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?

Where do you like to vacation?

Which place do you recommend as a Must-See? Please state which country, state or providence.

If money was not an issue, would you go on a cruise?  If so where would you go?

_________________________________________________________________

1. Least favorite mode of transportation– I am an easy traveller- anything that takes me to new places is part of the journey. But the one exception would be the Army lorries that took new recruits to basic training . Troop transport was not that good an experience in my life… especially when some violence is directed at you in the process, and some verbal abuse is flying around… What does it have to do with travel? Join the Army, see the world, meet new people… and kill them…. not my style…

2. Where do I like to vacation? Usually somewhere I have not been before… except Cape Town, South Africa, I am in love with Cape Town- Table Mountain, the beaches like Clifton, Bloubergstrand. The vineyards around Stellenbosch and Paarl. The awesome biking routes like Chapman’s Peak, the road to Rooi-Els, Frasnschhoekpas…  I definitely would put Cape Town as one of the top holiday destinations in my life… and I do have a LOT of wonderful friends living there. I just don’t get their rugby team…

3- Must See- see 2! Must See- the Muratie Cellars outside Stellenbosch.

4. A Cruise? YES please! The Cruise going from Washington State along to the Canadian Pacific coastline up to Alaska.  I have never been to that part of the world, and it sounds so beautiful.

The devil and the Pilgrim… Statues-

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Statues, Carvings, Sculptures

The Current Series

This is the second week of our current series and the topic is statues, carvings and sculptures.  They can be really small in size or huge.  See my entry at the bottom of this post for examples.  I hope you have some fun with this challenge.

I had such a good trip to Spain in 2011, when I went to do a part of the Camino de Santiago. The Spanish have a lot of statues!

In Madrid, in the Parque de Retiro, is a  statue for the devil. Or- The Fallen Angel-

IMG_0239And the next day I started walking my Camino de Santiago in Léon, and there one of the first sights was a statue of a pilgrim- there are LOTS of Pilgrim Statues in the north of Spain! I liked this one!

And there you have two human traits- remembering evil, and searching for good…
