Africa, Europe, Russia / Siberia! Well done KLR!
Dear friends,
It is with sadness that we had to say farewell to Lodie on 25 December 2014.
From Lodie’s iPad, the following quote:
And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light, that I may tread safely into the unknown!”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”
Carpe diem!
We will celebrate his life on Saturday 10 January 2015, the venue (most probably in or near Pretoria) and time will be confirmed as soon as possible.
With sadness,
His sisters Ina, Dorette and Ronelle
I am so sorry… *drukike*
He was a LEGEND, a true friend, a great barista! I am going to miss the cups of coffee on his back porch, and the stories he told, the wisdom and the humor…
I am really going to miss him a lot, and there are many, many more feeling like I do about this…
For those who did not know him- follow the link back to his blog… He rode on a Kawa KLR from the next town up the highway from us- Naboomspruit, through Africa, all the way to Berlin, on his own. Two years ago he flew the KLR to Berlin, and again solo rode from there all through Siberia and back through the Scandinavian countries to Berlin. He was a solo wanderer par excellance…
This is how I will remember him- always meeting new friends all over the world- a typical example: https://acrossafricaagain.wordpress.com/2014/09/18/stranger-as-fiction/
