It is difficult when you know nothing, and try to do a professional job! I now have great respect for all the good panelbeaters and car restorers in the world! How on earth do you get all the surfaces as smooth as a baby’s bottom?
PS- I learned A HUGE lesson in life: You have to keep the spray gun’s nozzle clean, otherwise it will block… Β I can’t wait to share it with my wife!
Blood, sweat and tears goes into this beauty. *smile
What great project! I love it that your son is in the middle of it. He’ll have this memory forever.
Cool car!!
Thanks!
One can only wonder how your good-looking wife is enjoying her temporary widowhood, Vosper ! [grin]
She is enjoying the rest!
Ha ! – so YOU guys say. π
We used to have a 1969 Beetle that was Arctic White with a red interior and I learned to drive in a red 1972 Bus. We were a 2 VW family!
It is looking nice!
People love them or hate them,,, THIS was my first car, inherited from my grandmother who bought it new in ’68. And we are building a 4th generation of memories together…
What an adorable VW! What colour is it going to be Vos? That is hard work indeed. Lovely shot! π
PS: Yes, those nozzles must be kept clean always. Who can work with a blocked nozzle. π
If we ever get there it will be Arctic White… π
Cool! Mine will be pink with black doggie paws all over and Simba’s cute face on the bonnet. π
Post a Pic when it is done! π
Noooo! Thought I’m putting an order in. π
I really think this is a once off experiment! I am getting extremely frustrated by the surfaces I do not get smooth with a lot of sandng and filling, sanding and filling… every time I think I am there I see another thing bothering me.
LOL! I know the feeling. Don’t worry. You’ll get there. In the meantime, enjoy. It’s fun! π
My son is a big time VW enthusiast. My first car was a 65 Baja Bug, and I had a really nice rag top Baja Bug when my son was in High School. I used to get calls at work from my neighbors telling me my boys had hotwired my bug again and were driving around the neighborhood.
He has good taste! THIS was my first car!
