In Mpumalanga, South Africa, near Sabie ( 24°40′28″S 30°48′39″E. ) where the Blyderivier (Happy River) meets the Treurrivier (Sad River) there are these amazing Potholes, formed by the swirling of the water over many, many years… The Place is called Bouke’s Luck, because a little bit of gold was found here in the 1800’s by Mr Tom Bourke…
And yes, it is located on some of the best Biking roads in our country… 🙂
Stunner!
That is magnificent! The rocks down there are amazing.
What a stunning place this is! Would love to visit one of these days!
There is pretty much everything in Africa, it seems. What is your favorite place there, if you had to pick only one?
Wow… this is breath-taking!
Fascinating – I had never ever ever heard of this before!
There ARE some beautiful country north of the Orange river too!
Seems like a phenomenal place. Wish it were closer to home!
Wow, beautiful images. What an amazing place.
Thanks Deborah
Wonderful photos.
Thanks!
Dammmmm!!! 🙂 Does that mean I cannot use my pics? We paid a visit to Bourkes Potholes on the trip from Mt Sheba to Sausage Tree Camp. Great photos. My lens would not capture the whole scene as you have done. Love the area….and South Africa. We may even return next year.
Please post yours too!
Always intended to…can’t travel half way around the works and not post photos. My comment was just a bit of fun 🙂
Impressive. I guess the waterflow changes immensely in these rivers from season to season. MM 🍀
I am not sure about that, it is a pretty wet part ot our country so it might be quite stable year round
