A very sad ending to the Camino de Santiago

Yesterday a Spanish train had a bad accident. The train derailed just 4 km from Santiago de Campostelo on a part of high speed track. I have been on that train 2 years ago after finishing my Camino. It is usually packed with happy pilgrims, who have just completed their Bucket List item of walking The Way, and earning their Campostela certificate.  I got the very last seat on the train out that evening.

Santiago is also a big university city, and you would expect to find students on the train as well.

That train can ride very fast. Last night it derailed. The death toll stands on 77 killed, with another 200 injured.

My condolences to the families of those who died. My prayers go out for those who got hurt.
